Women Photographers in the Library
March is Women’s History Month and we invite you to delve into the rich history of photography and explore all the women trailblazers in the field. At Harrison Library we have a display table resplendent with photography books of many famous and skilled Woman Photographers across the ages. From Anna Atkins, pioneer of early photography to Lee Miller, iconic war correspondent, our display uplifts the works of dozens of photographers who have shaped history as we know it.
We have a substantial collection of photography books , found mostly at the classmark 779 on the second floor of Harrison library. You can explore the work of women like Julia Margaret Cameron, Nan Goldin, Candida Hofer, Cindy Sherman, Annie Leibovitz and many more. There is also the shortlisted artists of the Deutsch Borse Photography Prize at 759.069 DEU, show casing work of talented contemporary photographers across the globe, including Valie Export, Lebohang Kganye, and Tarrah Krajnak.
On the third floor of Harrison library we have a number of print photography journals at PER 779 including British Journal of Photography, Hotshoe International and Contact sheet. We have recently resubscribed to Aperture who’s next issue we are expecting soon, but our readers can delve into 40 years of history with the archive issues of Aperture from 1980-2020. Or we have access to Aperture online from 1997 onwards.

A further wealth of photography resources can be found via the database Art and Architecture Source whose over 600 full-text journals, more than 220 full-text books, and a collection of over 63,0000 images, contains a vast array of resources on women in photography over the ages.
